What does MD COVID Alert do?
COVID Alert helps protect your privacy when you have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis by alerting you to the possibility that you may have been exposed to the virus. When you use the app, it will record a signal strength and timestamp to show the proximity and duration of your possible exposure.
When you enable the app, the first time you use it, you will have to provide your medical information and be tested for COVID-19. It will provide you with a unique PIN, which you will be asked to provide when an exposure notification is received. If you receive an exposure notification, you will need to use that PIN to confirm that it is a positive COVID-19 test result.
You can use it to help protect you and others by providing them with information on your possible exposure and location of your possible exposure.
In this way, the app helps you and others slow the spread of COVID-19.
It will communicate with other users through BLE. Each user receives a random identifier when it is used by the other user. The identifier and date-stamps are then recorded by each user.
